Part of the ABC’s of Learning Beyond School. Brought to You by the Letter B.
Start. Pick something you’ve always wanted to learn or just recently have a passing interest in, and get going.
Something you are curious about? Something your child asks? Whatever the subject, Begin.
It doesn’t have to be a serious subject or part of any curriculum.
Not sure? Don’t have it all planned out? Never done it before?
Blaze a new trail.
Once you start you will get a much better idea of how to proceed.
You can start learning on your own.
You might decide you want to find a teacher, mentor or guide. No problem.
Learning beyond school doesn’t mean you have to learn alone, with no help.
You, everyone, is a natural born learner.
Some things might require more conscious and consistent effort, but learning is part of what we humans do. Young, old, and in between.
So pick a topic, any topic and exercise those learning muscles.
Do you have trouble beginning new things? Why?
What have you learned beyond or without school in the past?
Do you have any tips for getting started?
Would you choose something else for the letter B? Love to hear your ideas in the comments. Lisa
