Mother’s Day
Fraught with feelings
Bubbling to the surface
From hidden wells
Of obvious joys
And obscure sorrows
Of mothering
Being mothered
Or not
Choices, dream, needs
Met or unmet
Challenging us to process past pain
Savor small sacraments
Of holding
And being held
Loved
Imperfectly
Whether jubilant with joys
Or swamped with sorrows
As we are
Noticing
Gifts of nurturing
From unexpected sources
That set us free
