March was bright and vibrant in my yard, making it harder than ever to sit at my desk and write and learn about book specs and design.
And I’ve got news! Even with my broken wrist, horrible world and national events, and trying to chase and cuddle with my visiting grandpuppy, Harper the Love Puppy is getting so, so close to publication!
There’s been so much learning involved in figuring out how to go from Spring Warren’s beautiful original paintings to digital files ready to be uploaded for printing. With much trial, error, love and laughter we keep doing a dance of two steps forward three steps back, and slowly making progress. Here is a page of just added to the book:
Dear Reader,
This book was inspired by my grandpuppy, who lavishes unconditional love on everyone she meets. We all need love, acceptance, and encouragement. Because of this my dear friend Spring and I, decided to become artners (that’s art partners!) to share Harper’s love.
Spring and I, who are also mothers and teachers, enjoy writing stories and poems and making things by hand – and even live on the banks of the same creek! We love playing in nature, getting our hands messy with art supplies, and learning. This book was our first picture book project and we learned a lot.
