Nurturing Unlabeled Seeds, Allowing Kids to Bloom

parenting quote www.LisaNalbone.com

Try to see your child as a seed that came in a packet without a label. Your job is to provide the right environment and nutrients and to pull the weeds. You can’t decide what kind of flower you’ll get or in which season it will bloom.

I love this quote shared by a mom in a gifted unschooling facebook group.  She found it in the book,  ‘The blessing of a skinned knee : using Jewish teachings to raise self-reliant children’. The original source is not identified in the book.

It is a great reminder that we can provide the healthy nutrients and support and trust the child to grow and bloom when they are ready.

In their way.

They may, and usually do, surprise us.

How are you currently:

  • providing a supportive healthy environment?
  • adding nutrients?
  • pulling weeds?
  • getting comfortable with not knowing which season or how they will bloom?

What would you like to do differently?

What do you need to ask for help with?

Learning all the time,

Lisa
